Hong Kong company Woke Up Like This (WULT) has since removed the product and issued an apology, saying it was never their 'intention to be insulting, offensive, or to reap profits from naming the product after a historical figure.'

A makeup brand faced a storm of criticism on Wednesday for naming a new liquid blush product after Jewish diarist and Holocaust victim Anne Frank.

The different blushes included"In Woolf's Words" after 20th-century writer Virginia Woolf,"Lift Like Melinda" after philanthropist Melinda Gates,"Viva La Frida" after Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, and"Dream Like Anne" after Holocaust victim Anne Frank. "[Time Out Hong Kong], shame on you for not noticing and for promoting this disrespect," Freeman wrote alongside a screenshot of the article. Others also voiced their outrage on social media, with freelance journalist Claire Coleman tweeting:"WTAF!?
