The B1617 (Indian) variant of COVID19 was detected among the earliest reported cases of the Tan Tock Seng Hospital cluster. A look at the latest variants of the coronavirus in Singapore:

Besides the five cases at TTSH, one case with the B16172 variant is the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officer deployed at Changi Airport Terminal 1, and the other case is the cleaner deployed at a community care facility at Tuas South.

Assoc Prof Mak said Singapore can also expect to see"more viral variants" identified over time, and that all necessary public health action has been taken to isolate and ring fence the cases. The cluster linked to TTSH has continued to grow, with a total of 40 cases linked to it as of Tuesday, making it the largest active COVID-19 cluster currently.

Testing of all 12,000 staff members on campus is also in progress. So far, about 10,000 employees have completed testing.

Wow......this is really a multi racial virus

1 day away from being released from SHN and i’m being made to do an extra 7days 🖕🏻. I’ve passed 3 PCR tests, I’m fully vaccinated and not travelled anywhere near the variant countries. RIDICULOUS!

It has become acceptable to earmark variants with country names to show where they were first detected. Should the SarsCov2 then also carry the original country's name against it. ? Perception becomes reality and this nomenclature is dangerous.

Let them work things out , we know they will be doing 100% on this

When you drag your feet to close the borders the virus sneaks in. Is the risk worth the rewards now ? 1 dead already. Many infected in the 70s upwards. another lockdown and it's another multibillion reserves. Manage with lives as top priority. Money economy can come later

Why I need to move to New Zealand and live there forever...

This is worrying trend, we managed to contract all the worst variants in Singapore. I hope Singapore does not go into another lock down.

This is alarming! 21 days SHN for Inbound contacts is simply not enough. SHN needs to be increased to a month atleast which is hard but a must to do to safeguard population. Vaccination program should be ramped up with faster pace in the meantime.
