A video of the incident, which was circulated on social media, showed a young man flipping a tray at a hawker, who reacted by attacking him with a ladle.
Responding to CNA's queries, the police said they were alerted to a case of voluntarily causing hurt at Block 455 Sengkang West Avenue at about 5.50pm on Sunday. "A 17-year-old teenager was conscious when conveyed to the hospital. A 51-year-old man is assisting with police investigations," said the police.
In the video, the teenager and the hawker were seen talking to each other across the stall counter at first. But the exchange appeared to get progressively heated and they started gesturing at each other. The young man can be seen subsequently flipping a tray at the hawker. In response, the hawker took a ladle, got out of the stall, and started hitting him with it.
Hawker wasn't exactly right by hitting him with ladle but the boy's behavior was non-excusable. Bad parenting displayed.
That Teen 'flip table first', in gangster term, this would mean war. Such a young age want to flip table? Got beaten up then others seems to run to his aid. Knn, this teen's time will come if he don't change. One day, someone may stick a knife into him if he don't change.
The teen also needed to be punished!! He could hv just walked away, don’t buy from the stall. But he flipped the tray to start a fight! Both are in the wrong though!
Recently we got few swordsmen, now got tray and ladle men. What is happening to our society?
Don't mess with those hawkers.
