KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia reported 130 new COVID-19 cases on Friday , bringing the country's total to 2,161.

At the press conference, he announced the death of two more patients, bringing the country's COVID-19 death tally to 26. “They have attended prayers and weddings and infected people in the area,” he said, adding that there are 88 positive cases in Kluang. On the mass religious gathering attended by over 16,000 people, Dr Noor Hisham said 13,762 have been checked and 12,317 were tested for COVID-19.Malaysia still has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia.Dr Noor Hisham also said that Malaysia has been chosen by the World Health Organization for a trial on the use of antiviral drug remdesivir to treat COVID-19 patients.
