Authorities said Cooper is wanted for failing to appear in court for sexually assaulting a child, indecency with a child, and drug charges in Hays County. According to court documents, Cooper sexually assaulted two children in his Buda residence between 2017 and 2021. On May 18, 2021, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office received the initial report. Four days later, a search was conducted on Cooper’s home, where authorities found over a dozen boxes of Nitrous Oxide cartridges, marijuana, THC edibles, and prescription medication not prescribed to Cooper. “Nicholas Cooper took advantage of a situation. When we talk about taking advantage of a situation, he groomed these underage children that were close to him,” said Brandon Filla, Deputy U.S. Marshal Austin. Cooper was arrested at this residence when the search concluded. Cooper was later released. He then failed to appear on his charges. “When he didn't appear, that's when the authorities there in Buda and the Hays County Sheriff's Office started their own fugitive investigation,” said Filla.During their investigation, they discovered Cooper had purchased a Tesla that was later found abandoned in Tarrant County, by a construction site near a wooded area. Cooper failed to make his car and mortgage payments, which resulted in both being seized by the lien holders. “We don't know at this point whether he's a fugitive on the run, or maybe, is he actually even still alive?” said Filla. Cooper was last known to be located by an ankle monitor on April 24, 23, in Santo. The same day, his mother filed a missing persons report with the Buda Police Department.“Cooper's an individual that is known to have some type of mental psychosis, whether that's from some type of mental illness or that may be drug induced,” said Filla.“If they know of him, or knew of him, maybe there's some type of pattern that can help us put these pieces of the puzzle together,” said Filla. “An individual like this could easily change his identity.
