FOX10 News obtained 911 calls in connection to a recent dragging death in Mobile.
It revealed how a fight, that was caught on camera, in a gas station parking lot turned deadly when a man was dragged under a car.In his 911 call, Cross repeatedly said he didn’t know Sam Walker was under his car.
Mobile police said Walker had stepped in when he saw Cross arguing with his girlfriend at the gas station.The caller said, “I need a cop. I got two people fighting in my parking lot.”The caller replied, “Uh, not right at this second.”Cross sounded out of breath in the call. He urgently asked the dispatcher to “Please hurry” and said, “I got into an altercation with a guy…outside a gas station, I was trying to leave.”Cross answered, “Ma’am, I was just trying to get in my car!”Cross still out of breath responded, “I didn’t know he was there! I thought it was a *Unintelligible/ Caller is still gasping*.....It was him! I just drug him like a mile!” and said, “I just dragged somebody with my car a mile from my house!”Cross is audibly upset, according to the transcript and said, “Yes, I didn’t know he was under my car!” A witness at the gas station whom FOX10 News spoke with last week said he didn’t think Cross was aware Walker was under his car either, “He like got his leg stuck up under the dudes tire. He ran over his leg with the driver side front tire and when he did that, he backed up and he ran into my truck at the pump. He couldn’t go any further backwards and I don’t know if he panicked I don’t know what happened. He just wigged out and put it in drive.” Mobile police said Sam Walker was dragged under Cross’ car from the gas station to Cross’s home which is about two miles.Cross faces an intentional murder charge and leaving the scene of an accident. His bond is set at $515,000.
