Luxury Lifestyle and Gambling Controversy: The Rise and Fall of 'Pro Sports Advice' Robert Heneghan

An investigation into Robert Heneghan, a successful horse racing tipster, reveals a lavish lifestyle built on a lucrative subscription service, but also exposes his promotion of an unregulated gambling website and a subsequent defamation lawsuit.

Robert Heneghan , a 27-year-old Irishman, has cultivated a lavish lifestyle and a substantial online following through his ‘ Pro Sports Advice ’ company, offering horse racing betting tips.

He projects an image of success, frequently showcasing his wealth – private jets, expensive suits, and winnings – alongside celebrity endorsements, notably from darts star Luke Littler. His company reported a retained profit of £1.73 million in 2024, with Heneghan earning £375,000 annually. He operates a tiered subscription model, ranging from £8.50 a month for standard tips to £64 a month for elite VIP access and a one-time £3,500 ‘Platinum Lifetime’ membership.

However, this carefully constructed image is marred by recent revelations. Heneghan actively promoted an unregistered, black-market gambling website called Gambana, licensed purportedly in Comoros but confirmed as fraudulent by the territory’s central bank. This promotion led to a defamation lawsuit against racing pundit Gearoid Norris, who publicly criticized Heneghan’s endorsement of the site. Norris alleged receiving threatening phone calls after publishing his concerns, claiming someone threatened to shoot him if he continued his criticism.

While Heneghan denied making the threats, a settlement was reached in the High Court, with Norris issuing an apology and agreeing to cease publishing material about Heneghan or Pro Sports Advice. The promotion of Gambana raises serious concerns, as it operates outside the regulatory safeguards designed to protect vulnerable individuals, particularly young people, from the risks of gambling.

Heneghan’s marketing tactics, mirroring those of influencers in the ‘manosphere,’ appeal to a predominantly young male audience, promising a path to wealth and success. He positions himself as the ‘most followed horse pundit in the world,’ urging potential subscribers why they would miss out on his winning tips. Despite his claims of providing ‘The World’s Most Trusted Tips’ and a ‘five-star’ service, the source of these accolades remains unspecified.

Many within the racing community were largely unaware of Heneghan’s success until 2020, with his current Instagram account originating in March 2021, featuring a successful bet placed at a Dublin-area racecourse. This rapid ascent to prominence, coupled with the questionable promotion of an unregulated gambling platform, casts a shadow over his seemingly prosperous enterprise. The incident highlights the potential dangers of unregulated online gambling and the influence of social media personalities in promoting such services.

The case also underscores the vulnerability of individuals who speak out against potentially harmful practices. Gearoid Norris, a former Paddy Power employee and blogger, faced intimidation after voicing his concerns about Gambana. The settlement in the defamation case, while avoiding a lengthy and costly legal battle, effectively silenced a critical voice. This raises questions about the use of legal action to suppress dissent and protect potentially illicit activities.

Heneghan’s business model relies heavily on attracting subscribers with promises of guaranteed profits, a claim that is inherently risky in the unpredictable world of horse racing. While he may have experienced periods of success, the promotion of an unregulated gambling site suggests a willingness to prioritize profit over ethical considerations and the well-being of his followers.

The investigation into Heneghan’s activities serves as a cautionary tale about the allure of quick riches and the importance of due diligence when engaging with online betting services. It also emphasizes the need for stricter regulation of online gambling platforms and greater accountability for influencers who promote them
