American Whiskey, a restaurant and bar located in New York City, hosted a watch party for a New York Knicks playoff game, offering a variety of specialty drinks and entrees. The co-owners discuss the passion and dedication of New York fans and their vision for the establishment.
American Whiskey , a restaurant and bar located on 247 W 30th Street, across from Madison Square Garden hosted faithful New York Knicks fans for a playoff game watch party on Wednesday evening.
“It’s great. We’re all fans of different sports, but I feel like New York is a basketball town. When the Knicks are good and they’re rolling, the city is just alive and we like to be a place for people to come and watch,” co-owner Casey Pratt toldover the Philadelphia 76ers, fans rooted them on at American Whiskey, which has hosted fans for all of their playoff games thus far.
“New York fans are passionate. They’re the best because everything we do we’re all in. Whether it’s work, play or sports. If you’re going to do it and spend time doing it you might as well be all in,” he added.
Aside from hosting watch parties, American Whiskey offers a variety of speciality drinks, including Whiskey that comes from hand-picked barrels. Their menu also features an assortment of cocktails and entrees, such as sandwiches, cheeseburgers and chicken wings that are smoked in-house.
“The vision for American Whiskey is very simple but not easy. We want to be an institution in New York. We’ve been here 13 years, but we feel like we’re changing every day. What we want to be is for the people.
We want to bring the best products. The best experiences. The best service. The best everything and give it to New Yorkers that’s always been our plan and what we want to accomplish,” co-owner Kevin Hooshangi said.
Hooshangi added that management wants to create the best experience for every customer because he grew up watching Knicks games with his father and friends at bars. American Whiskey has taken its business a step further to collaborate with brands and creators, who provide innovative activations for anyone to participate in.
“As we’ve grown over the last 13 years. The space has changed completely. The neighborhood has changed. What we pride ourselves on is partnerships with creators, influencers and people that have their pulse on what’s happening and what’s cool, and let us sit back and be a blank canvas for them to paint their masterpieces on,” Hooshangi continued.
“That’s the big thing about New York. Somebody is always coming. Someone is always coming for the crown. Someone is always coming for your spot.
I believe you have to let people do what they do, and that’s one of the things we do here with the game watches and experiences here is sort of give people what they want and a voice at the table and let them say ‘Hey this is what’s happening. This is what it should be right now.

Vásquez added that they like to give back to the fans and want to give them a chance to win collectible items, such as autographs from players and clothing from the “New York or Nowhere” clothing line.
“To be able to do something in common, which is to collaborate with anybody and everybody that wants to come here and if you want to sell your shirts, some cool stuff, merchandise or whatever it is that’s something that’s always been a purpose of this to invite everyone and anyone. We don’t want to compete, we want to collaborate and we use this to our full advantage,” Vásquez continued.

“You’re not paying $500 to enter the Garden and you’re a block away. You drink, eat and chat with all the homies. You celebrate and then you go to 7th Avenue to celebrate with the fans, who spent their electric bill to go to the game,” Brown joked.

American Whiskey Events coordinator Ben Frédérique, who curates all of the Knicks watch parties, said he wants to provide visitors with an “authentic New York vibe.

The Knicks are one thing that brings us all together. You can like a different football, hockey or soccer team, but the Knicks are what makes these watch parties all together,” Frédérique said.
General Manager Kelly, who others know as “Erin Kelly,” said American Whiskey is a “home and a place where everyone can gather, enjoy themselves and know that this is their new home. ” She added that “everyone you meet will become family. ” “It is important to engage and make sure everyone in here feels a sense of community. But the bigger picture is getting people like artists, football players and athletes to come here and feel welcomed and involved.
