According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department , continental air is prevalent over most parts of Pakistan, with high pressure in the upper atmosphere expected to persist until May 28. A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect the upper parts of the country starting from the evening/night of May 28.
Under these conditions, heat waves are anticipated to continue in Lahore and the plains of Punjab on Tuesday, with day temperatures expected to be 4 to 6°C above normal. Intermittent rain, wind, and thunderstorms are predicted from Tuesday evening/night until June 1, which will gradually reduce the intensity of the ongoing heat wave.
In Lahore, maximum temperatures are forecasted to range between 43-45°C on Tuesday and 42-44°C on Wednesday. Over the past 24 hours, heat waves persisted in Lahore and the plains of Punjab. Bhakkar and Rahim Yar Khan recorded the highest temperatures in the province at 50°C, while Kot Addu and Dera Ghazi Khan reached 49°C. In Lahore, the maximum temperature was 44°C, with evening relative humidity at 36 percent.
