ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Mian Shehbaz Sharif has said that today was a dark day for parliamentary tradition, the government trampled over parliamentary proceedings with no regard for the constitution.
Addressing a press conference after staging a walkout from the joint parliamentary session along with other opposition leaders, he said, “We raised public issues in the parliament but the whole nation is a witness to the government’s response”. He said that rising inflation in the last two years has added to the hardships of the people.
The PML-N President alleged that today, the attitude of the National Assembly Speaker was very unparliamentary. He said the Speaker has crossed a red line today and we strongly condemn it. Shehbaz claimed that the opposition stood with the government on the FATF bills so that Pakistan’s enemies do not get a chance to interfere in its foreign affairs. The opposition looked beyond their personal likes and dislikes and supported the FATF bill so that there would be no effect on Pakistan’s national interest, he said.
