Former Deputy Chairman Senate Saleem Mandviwala has said that indirect taxes of Rs27 billion have been imposed in the Budget 2021-22, reported 24News HD TV

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday, Mandviwala said the petrol price would go up by Rs20. He said that the Budget 2021-22 was a copy of the last fiscal year’s budget. He said that 17 percent tax had been imposed on crude oil which would result in an increase in poverty.

He said that the exports could not be increased during the last seven years. He said the PPP had increased exports from Rs19 billion to Rs25 billion. Regarding taxing online shopping, he said that everything was being bought online during the corona pandemic, adding that imposing a tax on online shopping would not only make goods more expensive but also damage the e-commerce industry.

He said the Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen himself said that the agreement with the IMF was wrong, so we have to go back to the IMF otherwise the poverty would increase.
