PSX Loses Five Points

KARACHI: Trading activity remained lacklustre at the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Friday, where the index traded in a narrow band virtually closing flat as late selling wiped out early gains.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index remained in the green for the most part, recording its intraday high at 45,312.05 after gaining 269.08 points. The index, however, lost momentum later in day and fell to its low at 45,042.25. It finally settled lower by 5.13 points at 45,077.91. Among other indices, the KMI-30 Index dropped 165.09 points to end at 73,156.98, whereas the KSE All Share Index gathered 41.81 points, closing at 30,802.68.

A total of 258,912,326 shares were traded during the day compared to the trade of 173,590,986 shares the previous day whereas the price of shares stood at Rs8.125 billion against Rs6.570 billion the previous day As many as 333 companies transacted shares in the stock market, 200 of them recorded gain and 113 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 20 companies remained unchanged.
