Punjab Educational BoardsIn a significant move aimed at enhancing students’ English skills and aligning educational standards with global benchmarks, educational boards across Punjab have decided to conduct matriculation exams in English for both science and arts streams, beginning in 2025.
Under this new policy, Urdu will gradually be phased out from question papers to establish a uniform language medium across all subjects. Additionally, starting in 2026, all optional subjects for FA exams will also be conducted in English. While formal approval for this policy is pending, educational authorities are optimistic that it will be ratified during the upcoming Punjab Boards Committee Chairmen meeting.
However, concerns have been raised by Rana Liaqat Ali, the General Secretary of the Punjab Teachers Union, regarding potential challenges associated with the language transition. He emphasized the importance of providing teachers with adequate training to facilitate a smooth transition and minimize student failure rates resulting from language barriers.

Punjab Assembly session to witness swearing-in ceremony of newly elected membersPunjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman has formally issued a notification calling for the inaugural session of the Punjab Assembly session today at 10am. The assembly session will witness the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected members. Punjab Assembly speaker Sabtain Khan will administer the oath to the newly elected members. It is also expected that voting for the new Punjab Assembly speaker, Deputy Speaker and Punjab Chief Minister will take place at the assembly after the oath taking ceremony.
