Madeleine McCann's parents hope she is alive as German paedo named official suspect

Missing Madeleine McCann’s parents are still hoping she is alive, despite the fact that a new official suspect has been named.

Christian Brueckner, also known as Christian B in Germany, is now an official suspect, or “arguido,” but has not been charged with anything. “Even though the possibility may be slim, we have not given up hope that Madeleine is still alive and we will be reunited with her.”‘Arguido’ means a person suspected of committing a crime by the authorities; the closest English equivalent is ‘formal suspect.’

The action was “probably purely for procedural reasons, to avert a statute of limitations in Portugal,” German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters told Sky News.
