Two judges from the five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court on Monday issued a 27-page order stating that the suo motu case in connection with the Punjab

According to the the24NewsHD TV channel, the two judges Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail raised questions over the powers of the chief justice of Pakistan , saying the apex court “cannot be dependent on the solitary decision of one man, the Chief Justice”.

They highlighted that they agreed with the decisions of Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Athar Minallah when they questioned the intent of the suo motu and urged the constitution of a full bench. “One-man show leads to the concentration of power in the hands of one individual, making the system more susceptible to the abuse of power. In contrast, a collegial system with checks and balances helps prevent the abuse and mistakes in the exercise of power and promotes transparency and accountability... We must not forget that our institution draws its strength from public perception”.

They added that where “the matter of constituting a bench for hearing a case under Article 184 of the Constitution is concerned, there must also be uniformity and transparency, which can be best assured by constituting a regular five or seven-member bench once at the commencement of every judicial year, or twice a year for each term of six months, by including in that bench the senior most Judges or the senior-most Judges of each Province on the strength of this court with the Chief Justice or...

They furthered that the matter did not constitute a fit case to exercise extraordinary original jurisdiction of the apex court under Article 184 and was this “not maintainable” as the “same constitutional and legal issues seeking the same relief are pending and being deliberated upon by the respective Provincial High Courts in Lahore and Peshawar”.

IHC CJ bars govt from arresting Imran Khan in seven casesThe Islamabad High Court has ordered the government not to arrest PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan in seven cases for which he has filed protective bail in the court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. Two-judge IHC bench led by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb conducted the hearing of the case and granted interim bail to Imran Khan in seven cases and issued notice to the federal government. During the proceedings, IHC CJ Aamer Farooq remarked that it was not a wise move on the part of the government to withdraw PTI chief’s security.  Earlier, former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan filed seven petitions in the high court seeking pre-arrest bail in seven cases registered against him following clashes between the PTI workers and the police on his arrival at Federal Judicial Complex on March 18. The two-judge bench heard his petitions along with the objections raised earlier by the registrar office.  The PTI chairman was seeking bail in seven cases registered against him at Golra, Bara Kahu, Ramna, Khanna, and CTD police stations.  The cases are related to violence outside the Federal Judicial Complex on March 18 — where Imran had appeared in the Toshakhana case. Earlier, the IHC registrar office raised two objections to the petitions. It objected that Imran Khan’s bio matric was not certified and how the petitions could be filed in the IHC prior to their filing in a trial court.  Security officials stop Imran's vehicle at IHC gate When Imran Khan reached the court, security stopped his vehicle at the IHC gate. They said that extra people were sitting in the SUV. They said that only Imran and his vehicle were permitted to go inside the court.  The security officials disembarked Saifullah Niazi and Sheharyar Afridi from the vehicle.  Saifullah Niazi reached the court in the vehicle of the Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister.
