Marriyum Aurangzeb was made senior minister in Punjab while Azma Bokhari has been assigned the daunting task of information minister. Maryam led the election campaign of PML-N with her father and herself contested for both the National Assembly and provincial assembly seats. Marriyum Aurangzeb came into prominence when Pervaiz Rashid was sacked as information minister in 2016 in the wake of ‘DawnLeaks’. She became the information minister after removal of Pervaiz Rashid and vociferously defended her party and government on the TV screens.Marriyum Aurangzeb once again became an MNA in 2018 on a reserved seat and this time, she showed her abilities from the opposition benches.

Punjab Assembly session to witness swearing-in ceremony of newly elected membersPunjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman has formally issued a notification calling for the inaugural session of the Punjab Assembly session today at 10am. The assembly session will witness the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected members. Punjab Assembly speaker Sabtain Khan will administer the oath to the newly elected members. It is also expected that voting for the new Punjab Assembly speaker, Deputy Speaker and Punjab Chief Minister will take place at the assembly after the oath taking ceremony. Out of 371, PML-N holds a total 195 seats in the Punjab Assembly, which includes 157 general seats and 38 reserved women and minority seats. PML-N has nominated Maryam Nawaz for the post of Chief Minister Punjab and party member Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman is likely to be elected as the new Punjab Assembly Speaker.
