The Punjab Disaster Management Authority has raised a high alert due to the forecast of heavy rains and possible storms expected to hit Lahore and various parts of Punjab during the Eid ul Fitr celebrations.
Irfan Ali Kathia, the director general of PDMA, has emphasized the likelihood of intermittent stormy rains from tomorrow until April 15 and advised citizens to stay vigilant and prepare accordingly. The heavy rains are predicted to affect areas includi ng Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal from April 10 to 12. Additionally, significant divisions such as Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, and districts of Bahawalpur Division are expected to experience rainfall starting from April 12.
DG Kathia has warned about the possibility of hailstorms in various Punjab regions and urged citizens to consider weather conditions while making preparations for Eid celebrations. He recommended that individuals planning tourism activities during the Eid holidays stay informed about weather forecasts, take necessary precautions, and carry required equipment, particularly when visiting mountainous areas.
The PDMA has collaborated with district administrations and the Irrigation Department to share information and prepare for potential emergencies. In the event of any emergencies, citizens are urged to contact PDMA’s helpline at 1129 for immediate assistance and guidance.
