During the hearing today, the National Accountability Bureau prosecutor told the court Abbasi had “illegally appointed” Sheikh Imran ul Haq as managing director and Yaqub Sattar as deputy managing director of PSO.
After hearing the NAB prosecutor’s arguments the court indicted the PML-N leader along with Haq, Sattar, Arshad Mirza and others. Abbasi pleaded not guilty to the charges. Last year, NAB had arrested Abbasi for alleged corruption while awarding a multi-billion rupee import contract for LNG in 2013 when he was the minister for petroleum and natural resources.
The allegation was that the accused, through a non-transparent process, awarded the LNG Terminal-1 contract.
