BLACK ROCK CITY, Nevada – Burning Man organizers reopened the road leading out of the remote Nevada desert festival on Monday, allowing tens of thousands of attendees to escape after they had been trapped for days by mud.
When the road finally reopened, a long line of vehicles snaked through the desert, inching along in an epic traffic jam as event organizers urged drivers to take it slowly on Monday and consider delaying their departure until Tuesday to reduce traffic. The site in Nevada's Black Rock Desert sits atop the former Lake Lahontan, which the U.S. Geological Society describes as a deep lake that existed as recently as 15,000 years ago. It is about 15 miles from the nearest town and 110 miles north of Reno.
One person died at the event, officials said on Sunday, providing few details. An investigation was under way.

PDMA Punjab Spokesperson: Flow Of Water Normal In River SutlejSpokesperson Of Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab says flow of water is normal in River Sutlej except for Islam Headworks. He said there is low level flood in Head Islam in River Sutlej. He said inflow of water at Head Islam is 66,586 cusecs while outflow is 64,356 cusecs. He said flow of water in Ganda Singh Wala is 38000 cusecs water. He said inflow of water in Head Sulemanki is 40000 cusecs water while outflow is 26000 cusec water. He said that the flow of water is normal in all other rivers of Punjab. Meanwhile, relief activities continue in flood affected areas and road, bridges and mean of communication are being restored on emergency basis in affected areas.

Taiwan Typhoon: Typhoon Haikui Makes Landfall In TaiwanTyphoon Haikui made landfall on Eastern Taiwan, unleashing torrential downpours, whipping winds and plunging thousands of households into darkness as the first major storm to directly hit the island in four years. Nearly 4,000 people were evacuated from high-risk areas, hundreds of flights cancelled and businesses closed in preparation for the storm. The Weather Bureau said the typhoon was at our doorstep and confirmed it had made landfall in Coastal Taitung, a mountainous county in lesser-populated Eastern Taiwan. According to AFP, residents hunkered down indoors in the dark, staying away from windows as strong gusts of wind sent toppled trees and dislodged water tanks flying in the air. The Typhoon has gathered speed since yesterday, and at 3:00 pm was packing sustained winds of about 154 kilometres per hour. The weather bureau said, rain and wind will be most intense and its impact will be most obvious during this period' after landfall. It said that the typhoon will move into the Taiwan strait by Monday evening. Across the island, more than 21,000 hosueholds lost power, and while most resumed by mid-afternoon, about 9,000 were still without electricity when Haikui hit including in Taitung. Authorities have reported two minor injuries in Hualien county a mountainous region which was issued a warning for flash floods after a fallen tree hit a car. The last major storm to hit Taiwan was Typhoon Bailu in 2019, which left one person dead.
