All set to appoint new Jallad in Lahore Jail

The candidates are demanded to have sheer strength and unusual bravery but require no education and previous experience. Anyone prone to hesitation or mercy need not apply for the job.

The candidate must be a male, at least 5 ft 4 inches tall, and willing to tighten the noose around the convict’s neck and then pull the lever. That’s all. The post has been laying vacant for the last several years. According to the jail authorities, an executioner will be recruited for the Lahore Central Jail on a contractual basis. The candidate belonging to Lahore will be preferred for the post of BS-1. Healthy candidates who can read and write are preferable for the seat.

DIG Prisons, Lahore Region asked the interested candidates to submit their applications by Jan 27. There is only one hangman across the province. He has to perform the duty of execution in other jails across Punjab also. Zainab murder case convict Imran was last hanged in jails across Punjab. There are 532 death row prisoners in Lahore jail only.
