LAHORE: The 38th death anniversary of legendary and revolutionary Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz was observed today.
Faiz Ahmed Faiz was born on 13th February in 1911 in Sialkot hailing from an academic family that was well known in literary circles. His father Sultan Muhammad Khan was a barrister who worked for the British Government, and an autodidact.Faiz was an intellectual, revolutionary poet, and one of the most celebrated writers of Urdu language, his work remains influential in Pakistan literature and arts.
His literary work was posthumously publicly honored when the Pakistan Government conferred upon him the nation’s highest civil award, Nishan-e-Imtiaz, in 1990.When Faiz Ahmed Faiz was returning from exile, his friend asked about his home address so he can write to him. Faiz replied with a smile:Today is his 38th death anniversary!
