20 prisoners released, 1,894 granted remission in jail terms on Eid-e-Milad

20 prisoners were released from Punjab jails and 1,894 were granted remission in their jail terms on the occasion of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

In Lahore, a total of 177 prisoners—137 in Kot Lakhpat Jail and 40 in Camp Jail—were granted remission in their jail terms. The remission in the jail terms of the prisoners was granted on the orders of the Punjab inspector general of police . It is to be noted here that a day earlier, the Punjab government had announced granting remission in the jail terms of prisoners.

Special Remission In Prisoners' Punishment: President Announces 90-Day Relaxation On Eid Milad Un NabiPresident Dr Arif Alvi has announced a special remission of 90 days in sentence of prisoners on the eve of Eid Milad Un Nabi. The remission will be applicable for male prisoners above 65 years of age and women inmates over 60 years, who have completed one-third of their imprisonment. The persons under 18 years who have served their one-third sentence will also get the benefit of remission. President Alvi approved the remission for prisoners in accordance with article 45 of the constitution, the President's Office said. The reduction in sentence will not apply to the prisoners involved in murder, espionage, and anti-state activities. The other categories without remission include convicts of adultery, theft, dacoity, kidnapping, and terrorism. Also, the remission will not be applicable on those involved in financial crimes and the ones who incurred losses to the national exchequer.

Eid Milad-Un-Nabi (Pbuh): Int’l Seerat-Un-Nabi Conference Underway In IslamabadInternational Seerat-Un-Nabi conference is in progress in Islamabad in connection with Eid Milad-Un -Nabi (Saww). The theme of the conference is 'strategy for country's economic stability in light of Seerat-Un-Nabi (Saww)'. In his address on the occasion, Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti called upon the religious scholars to promote the true teachings of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) to foster peace and stability in the country. He said Pakistan is the castle of Islam and conspiracies are being hatched to weaken it by pushing it into economic crisis and instigating violence in the name of religion. He stressed that these plots must be thwarted through unity in our ranks, highlighting the important role that religious scholars can play in this regard. He said we must follow and adopt the character of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) to overcome all the challenges. Speaking on the occasion, Minister For Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed mentioned that the theme of the Seerat Conference was chosen after consultations to seek input from religious scholars on how to address issues of poverty and inflation in light of Islamic teachings. He pointed out that Islam introduced the concept of a welfare state and emphasized the circulation of wealth. He said the last Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him), is Rahmatul-Lil-Alameen, who taught us how to lead a dignified life.
