ZAMBOANGA CITY – Most of the spike in coronavirus disease cases here can be attributed to social gatherings, officials said.

“We have relaxed our practice of minimum health standards and we notice an increase of leisure activities and social gatherings,” Miravite said. The active cases have increased to 1,370 as 97 new cases were recorded with 232 deaths as eight new fatalities were listed, also as of Tuesday. The recovered cases climbed to 4,465 as 78 new recoveries were registered as of the same date.
