MANILA - Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday lamented President Rodrigo Duterte's decision to declare Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and All Souls' Day as special non-working days.

"Kasi ‘di ba, kapag ang mga workers natin pinatrabaho on a regular holiday, mas marami ang bayad sa kanila. Kapag ginawa mong special working day, magiging regular ang bayad sa kanila," she said in her weekly radio show. Duterte said he designated the holidays as special working days so the country can "recover from the adverse economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic."

Mam, ganun din, despite the holiday pay, a lot of wprkers would want to go home to the provinces than work.

Philippines: 2 days free per month, working for 8K in PHP per month. We call that MODERN SLAVERY! Every person should have the right of a minimum of 20K in PHP salary and 2 days off per week.

Prioritize vaccination & not to fewer the holidays. Start the inoculation so economy can start slowly but surely. Reducing the holiday wont solve your problem. Anyways what is new in govt policies, by end of the day they will change it, w/ no proper consultations.
