CEBU CITY, Philippines — Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has advised local government units (LGUs) in the province to keep track of getting swab samples from persons having influenza-like illnesses

Garcia said having the swab tests of the ILIs for them to be tested at the subnational laboratory of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center would, at least, give the real picture of the coronavirus situation in the province.

“Ako usab hangyoon ang mga LGUs pagpadayon sa swabbing. Duna tay ubang municipalities nga hinay-hinay ang pagpa-swab sa mga naay influenza-like illnesses symptoms nato. Palihug, aron naa tay kasiguroan, ipahigayon gayod ang atong swabbing,” Garcia said. The plan for the rapid tests, however, has hit a snag due to a memorandum from the health department prohibiting the use of government funds for the procurement of rapid test kits as experts do not vouch its accuracy.

Dear Gov. Gwen: I would like to 2nd the motion on that. We should test them already as they are already experiencing the symptoms of possible Covid19. And hopefully we have available test kits for them. More powers.
