Why red & green?: Comelec explains colors lighting up its facade at night

After being called out by netizens, the spokesperson of the Commission on Elections on Friday, Feb.18, explained why the main building of the poll body’s facade light up “red and green” at night.

The red and green are known to be the official campaign colors of the tandem of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, and vice-presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte. Answering the Twitter post of journalist Raisa Robles, Comelec Spokesperson James B. Jimenez said the poll body is a “tenant in the building” which is under the management of the Office of the President.

“The COMELEC is a tenant in that building, which is under the management of Office of the President. I have been told that the building’s administration is planning to swap out these ones for differently colored lights,” he said, quoting the query of Robles. In a reply to a netizen, the spokesperson of Comelec agreed that the building admins should have been “more mindful” in choosing the colors of the facade at night.Meanwhile, the answer of Jimenez did not sit well with other netizens.

Guys, Hindi nasagot, hindi nasabi sa news article kung bakit red & green yung naka-flash. Sabi lang the building admin “shoukd be mindful of their choice of colors”. Hindi sinabi bakit red and green ang na-flash.

Yung natitirang credibility ng COMELEC? Sorry pero walang wala na. Napaka inefficient at incompetent nga mga taong nagtatrabaho jan. Not to mention that James Jimenez has been in the position since 2007. Like HOW? Subukan nyo kaming dayain sa Mayo, MAKAKATIKIM KAYONG LAHAT.
