Carlos Yulo , a Filipino gymnast, is the Philippines' second Olympic gold medalist after ruling the men's floor exercise finals in the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday.He followed weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz who won the country's first Olympic gold back in Tokyo 2020 three years ago.A 24-year old gymnast from Manila, the Paris Games is Yulo's second Olympic appearance as he also competed in Tokyo.
In the Southeast Asian Games in Manila, Yulo won two gold medals in team and floor exercise, and five silver medals from the other apparatus: pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bars.In the Tokyo Olympics, Yulo missed the floor exercise finals, but qualified in the vault finals where he fell just short -- 0.017 points short of a bronze medal.
