ILOILO CITY — A total of 17,999 agrarian reform beneficiaries in Western Visayas were given Certificates of Land Ownership Award since President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. took office in 2022.The Department of Agrarian Reform Western Visayas said the CLOAs distributed covers a total of 16,764 hectares of land, with Negros Occidental receiving the largest share at 11,037 ha.
34 percent or 38,997 ha of land still need to be distributed under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program .'We have already distributed 428,000 hectares. Our remaining balance is 38,997 hectares, which is about 8 percent of the total,' she said.CARP, initiated in 1972 through Presidential Decree 27 under President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., aimed to emancipate tenant farmers working on private agricultural lands devoted to rice and corn.
