MANILA — In these anxious times, music has been proving to be a wonderful tonic in lifting each other out of the gloom.
On Facebook this Saturday, a member of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra has uploaded a video showing him, while wearing a face mask inside his home, doing an emotional cover of “Paraiso,” an original composition from Ryan Cayabyab for the group Smokey Mountain, with his violin. Patrick Feliciano hopes his cover would raise the morale of people during these dark times, while also reminding them to help the country's frontliners and stay at home, among other things.
“We cry for help and pray that this crisis will be over soon. We heed the DESIRE to live in a world where children can run free, where people can hug each other again and experience all the joy it brings," the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra Facebook page wrote. Saturday marks nearly two weeks since the government imposed a strict quarantine over the whole of Luzon, in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The country’s total number of confirmed cases has now jumped to 1,075, from 803 on Friday.
