Vice President Leni Robredo is keeping tabs on the Department of Health’s daily coronavirus bulletin in an effort to monitor whether the country is flattening the curve in its fight against COVID-19.

Robredo said her office will post the daily updates on COVID-19 cases from the DOH, including an epidemic curve provided by the University of the Philippines COVID-19 response team.

Health experts refer to flattening the curve or slowing down of the rate of COVID-19 infection, while the epidemic curve is the number of the daily new cases reported by the DOH. ”An epidemic curve is always useful for many reasons, one of which is to assess if we are already flattening the curve,” Robredo wrote in a Facebook post.“We all have a responsibility to perform for us to be able to achieve this. This includes not just following health and safety protocols but also doing our share in helping those in need. So let’s all bolt in,” she said.

The number of daily new COVID-19 cases reported by the DOH continues to move upward, an indication the country has yet to flatten the curve. Last Tuesday’s count of 57,545 confirmed cases brings the number of infections in the country near the 60,000 mark projected by UP researchers by the end of July.
