MANILA, Philippines -- There is a "big possibility" that the Premier Volleyball League will push back the opening date of its first professional season, amid clamor from teams for more preparation time.
However, PVL president Ricky Palou admitted Tuesday that they are seriously considering moving the opening date to later in May. "Because as everybody knows they haven't been allowed to play in any competitive type of games for over a year now. They're afraid that players may be overexcited, that they'll hurt themselves," he added.
Twelve teams will feature in their first season as a professional league. Several squads have already received permission from the Games and Amusements Board to start training, while the practice venues of other teams are set to be inspected.
