Senator Joel Villanueva welcomed the House of Representatives’ adoption of the Senate’s version of the Security of Tenure Bill on Tuesday.“The news about the House’s adoption of the Senate version of the Security of Tenure bill is a welcome development,” Villanueva said in a statement sent to reporters late Tuesday night.
The Lower Chamber, in its session Tuesday afternoon, adopted the Senate bill as an amendment to its House Bill 6908. “Just as the Senate, the House leadership is determined on delivering one of the President’s landmark campaign promise of ending the practice of illegal contractualization or endo, which has robbed the dignity of labor among workers,” Villanueva said.
Among others, SB 1826 prohibits the abusive practice of labor-only contracting and limits it to licensed and specialized services.
