Vico Sotto: Tricycles in Pasig to resume operations Monday COVID19Quarantine CommuterPatrol

MANILA - Tricycles in Pasig City will be allowed to resume operations starting Monday, May 18, Mayor Vico Sotto said Saturday as Metro Manila eased its lockdown measures.

Sotto, in a Facebook post, announced that the Department of the Interior and Local Government has approved the city's guidelines for tricycle operations. The city government also told tricycle operators and drivers to coordinate with their respective associations and regulatory offices. "Magiging malaking tulong ang mga tricycle para masolusyonan ang kakulangan sa mobilidad ng mga empleyadong Pasigueño sa paraan na may social distancing pa rin," Sotto said.

In March, the mayor appealed for the continued operations of tricycles to ferry frontliners as Metro Manila was placed on strict lockdown, with transportation and movement restricted to contain the pandemic. The DILG had rejected Sotto's appeal. The young mayor complied with the national government's directive and instead tapped the city's bikes as transportation for healthworkers.
