Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian said he wants the return of the number coding scheme and truck ban to help ease the traffic congestion in the city. | ConsINQ

The Valenzuela City government is also requesting a return of the truck ban to regulate the number of trucks entering Valenzuela during rush hour.

In a separate online press conference on Thursday, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said they will study the proposal to return the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or the number coding scheme because public transportation remains limited during the pandemic. “Pag-aaralan natin. Una muna, sa coding, iyong sa coding kasi, hindi pa ganoon ka normal ang capacity ng public transport natin. I think 60-70 percent palang ang laman niyan,” said Garcia, reacting on Gatchalian’s request to return number coding scheme.

He said they will also be swamped with requests from frontliners to be exempted from the number coding scheme. “Pangalawa, kapag nag-coding, I am expecting loads of request for exemption — yung medical frontliners [at] essential workers,” he added.

Number coding ibalik na. Sobrang trapik na lalo na along bicutan taguig interchange to sucat paranaque to alabang or vice versa. Tinalo pa ang Edsa sa tagal ng trapik. Dagdag stress pa yang trapik na yan. Paki balik na po parang awa nyo na.

Walang point yung pag cancel ng number coding ngayon kasi. Gusto nila i lessen yung movement pero pinayagan the whole week na bumyahe.

Me traffic study po ba kayo, parang time and motion studies? O baka gaya ng shield, hinala lang? Papasko na po, titindi pa po yan. Nag commute na po ba kayo? Kahit kelan?

The reason of heavy traffic these days are the choke points near toll gates. They are now everywhere near toll gates & not really the volume of private cars. We should thank DOTr for the well planned cashless timeframe, every motor vehicles passing in these areas are suffering.

Pls no. I feel safer in my private vehicle. I try to socially distance myself pero parang mahirap yata sa Public Transpo yan.

ConsINQ Tama! Grabe trapik ngayon dito s Dasma juskopo ugh kairita! 🙄

ConsINQ Yea please. Super traffic

ConsINQ Ohnooooo
