The Valenzuela City government and the Department of Education (DepEd) on Friday, Aug. 4, launched the “Valenzuela Reading Camp 2023” that aims to improve the reading comprehension of students in 42 public elementary schools in the city.

Valenzuela City Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja led the launching ceremony of the program held at Gen. T. De Leon Elementary School.

It aims to address not only the existing problems on reading deficiencies of the learners in both elementary and secondary levels but further nourish and sharpen the individual’s love for reading. According to the vice mayor, the goal of the annual reading camp is to minimize the number of learners having difficulty in reading, and successfully transform them into independent readers.

Borja also emphasized that no child in the city should be left behind when it comes to education, thus the government gives them all the support they need.
