Each veteran has a story. This was the reminder of United States Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson as she paid homage to Filipino and American war veterans during Veterans Day.

US Army Col. Edward Evans, AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Bartolome Bacarro, US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson, and American Battle Monuments Commission Secretary Charles Djou lead the first public and in-person Veterans Day ceremony in Manila since 2019.

In a ceremony at the American Cemetery on Friday, Nov. 11, Carlson joined the nation in remembering the sacrifices and heroism of those who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. The ambassador recognized the American and Filipino soldiers who fought side by side on Corregidor, to defend Bataan, and to liberate Manila.

She also acknowledged the “great sacrifices” made by allied forces in the Philippines and across the globe, adding that each veteran has their story we must take time to remember and learn.
