The chairman of the House committee on appropriations said they are scheduled to tackle the funding provision of President Duterte’s priority measure. “It will be taken up during our committee hearing on January 22 and I presume that it is expected to be approved,” he said in a text message.

Joey Salceda passed the DDR bill and granted exemption from taxes, import duties, and donor’s tax on foreign donations and goods and services donated from abroad. The DDR is mandated “to oversee and coordinate the preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of disaster and climate resilience plans, programs, projects, and activities: and provide leadership in the continuous development of strategic and systematic approaches to disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery, and rehabilitation.”
