A senior United Arab Emirates (UAE) official on Thursday branded as baseless reports that a Filipina household worker died from the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Dubai.

An unnamed official of the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention told Gulf News that the UAE has not recorded any deaths from 2019-nCov, adding that all cases registered in that country have been officially announced.

The official added that all coronavirus positive cases are in “stable condition,” debunking earlier reports emanating from Manila that a 58-year-old Filipino domestic helper allegedly passed away due to the coronavirus on Feb.2 in Dubai. Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III earlier said he has met with the daughter and sister of the deceased OFW and assured the family of the immediate repatriation of their loved one’s remains.
