UAAP: Ateneo dumps UP to complete first round sweep

Defending champion Ateneo recovered from a first-quarter deficit and blasted University of the Philippines, 89-63, Sunday to complete a first round sweep in the UAAP season 82 men’s basketball at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.Five players led by center Ange Kouame scored in double figures as the three-peat seeking Blue Eagles zoomed to their seventh straight win in an emotionally-charged meeting witnessed by a crowd of 19,861.

The Maroons were trailing 47-35 when Perasol contested a non-call on Kouame to his player, Jerson Prado. His outburst led to five freethrows converted by Thirdy Ravena and Adrian Wong as the Blue Eagles padded their lead to 52-35.
