MANILA, Philippines -- University of the Philippines head coach Bo Perasol apologized for his shocking outburst that led to his ejection from the Fighting Maroons' game against Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday afternoon.
Perasol charged at referee Jaime Rivano, making contact with the official and even taking a fighting stance. He had to be held back by his players and coaching staff, and was immediately slapped with two technical fouls resulting in his ejection from the game. "That was a lesson for us, and I don't think that was who we are. But it was mostly because of what I did. As their leader, as their head, I need to be better," said Perasol.
"When the official called the third foul on Bright, and Bright was already at the other baseline, and I really thought that the official followed him there," he explained.
It's just a game. Ateneo overwhelmed UP. Not as if it was neck to neck
This is basketball. Teamwork spelled the difference.
Ateneo beat UP period.
Those are the breaks of the game... You win some, you lose some, good calls, bad calls are part of it! But you are foul - YOU, BOBO PERASOL RUINED THE GAME! YOU HAVE NO BALLS!
Be, tignan mo un governor namin kung makaawat. 🤭😂 iammcriss
Yes indeed. Bad officiating ruined a hyped game (what else is new?). Sayang. UAAP is the loser here. Whoever runs the show, please be fair. Do something about the officiating system. Loyalty of referees goes only to UAAP and the games..UAAPSeason82
