Two people injured due to fireworks amid the New Year revelry were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center on Saturday, New Year's Day, the hospital said.

The victims are both women, one a 12-year-old, and the other, a 46-year-old, according to a report by Mark Makalalad on Dobol B TV. The 12-year-old victim had an abrasion on the right foot due to a kwitis that exploded. She was seen at 12:05 a.m. at the EAMC. The 46-year-old victim, on the other hand, had a first-degree burn around the eye due to fountain fireworks and was brought to EAMC at 1 a.m.The Department of Health has earlier appealed to the public to“Pigilan po natin ang aksidente at disgrasya dahil sa paputok sa pamamagitan ng pag-iwas sa paggamit nito at pagiging handa sa lahat ng pwedeng maging aksidente,” DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Tuesday.
