Despite him being President Duterte’s arch critic, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Monday bared that he had ignored claims allegedly made by Peter Joemel Advincula in the controversial “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos.
Long before the controversial video series was uploaded online, Trillanes said that he had been aware of Bikoy’s allegations, recalling an instance last August when Bikoy, accompanied by priests, approached his office and sought sanctuary from drug syndicates which wanted him “Para maiwasang masunog sa maling akusasyon, ang sabi ko sa mga pari, wala tayong magagawa kung ‘di antayin ang pag-validate ng mga documents na ‘yon,” he recalled.“As shepherds of Christ, that is their ministry. Hindi lang nila siguro na-expect na meron pa ring tao na susuklian ang kanilang kabutihan ng isang kataksilan,” he said.
“IniIapit din po ito sa akin sometime in early 2017 kung hindi ako nagkakamali, kasi meron daw syang isisiwalat na impormasyon ukol sa illegal drugs. Gaya ng lahat ng mga inilalapit sa aming opisina ukol sa mga prospective whistleblowers, pinadaan ko sya sa aming vetting process. Pero hindi sya pumasa at lalo nang hindi ko sya kinupkop,” he said.
While he earlier lauded the “well-explained” accusations in the video series, Trillanes said Advincula could not be trusted. “Kapag sigurado ako sa isang testigo, ebidensya o akusasyon, nilalabas ko at tinitindigan ko sa Senado,” he said.
