After what seemed to be the longest month of the year so far, we’re finally welcoming another one. 📆😂 | via philstarlife

January has been the subject of jokes on the Internet for a while. As we finally welcome February, have a good laugh at some tweets about bidding goodbye to the “longest” month of 2023 and saying hello to the month of love.

Local brand Linya-Linya was met with laughs and “tama na, please” tweets when it joked on Twitter: “What if may January 32?”Former beauty queen MJ Lastimosa jokingly suggested to her followers that they “swipe right” now so they would have a Valentine’s date on Feb. 14. “March na, Mars. Walang February! Walang magiging masaya. Charot,” a netizen joked in the same thread.

A social media user also tweeted that January felt so long that it feels like they are welcoming another year. “Tapos na January. Year 2024 na ba?” “Haba ng January pero blink ka lang, tapos na February,” another one said, referring to how February only has 28 days. January felt like it lasted forever, and it’s interesting to know that there’s abehind it. Just like most months, it also has 31 days. But according to William Skylar, a researcher who extensively worked on time perception at the University of Cambridge, “mental time is a pretty fragile metric for physical duration.

Since the holidays just passed, a researcher from the University College London’s Psychology and Language Sciences said that going back to work after having fun during the Christmas season “leads to a lot of boredom, which, in turn, leads to the impression that time slows down in January.”
