Supply of ride-hailing cars on its platform during Monday’s rush hour was “normal like an ordinary day” despite the transport holiday staged by a group of transport network vehicle service drivers, Grab Philippines said.
Grab public affairs manager, Nicka Hosaka, meanwhile thanked their TNVS partners who continued their service during the holiday. Laban TNVS, a network of TNVS operators and drivers, with the Lawyers for Commuters’ Safety and Protection , and commuters group Defend Job Philippines organized on Monday the first TNVS transport holiday as part of their protest against the policies of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board .
In a press conference at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City on Monday, Ninoy Mopas, one of the TNVS groups’ leaders, claimed that there were at least 10,000 to 15,000 drivers that went offline as part of the transport holiday. A dialogue called by the Anti-Red Tape Authority between TNVS leaders, Transportation Undersecretary Mark de Leon, and Civil Service Commissioner Aileen Lizada also took place during the event to address the complaints of the drivers.
Meanwhile, the supposed filing of case against LTFRB officials before the Office of the Ombudsman on Monday was put on hold pending results of the dialogue.
