In an interview on ABS-CBN's Teleradyo, Employers Confederation of the Philippines president Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. said placing the country's capital region under enhanced community quarantine could court further economic disaster from the COVID-19 fallout.
For Ortiz-Luis, it is important to balance both the economy and health care so the country could weather the crisis. "Ngayong nagre-recover na tayo . . . dapat 'yan mga economic managers ang dumiskarte niyan. Pagka ang health department ang dumiskarte niyan laglag tayong lahat. Lalo tayong hindi makakaahon. Baka mas marami pang mamatay sa gutom at saka sa gulo kaysa mamamatay sa COVID," he added."Nababagalan kami sa implementation. Dapat 'yung pagbabalanse ng ekonomiya at health, hindi lang naman COVID ang ikinatatakot natin . . . Ayusin natin 'yung implementation," he said.

But the question is what will the government do to alleviate the situation of our healthcare frontliners who work in conditions, are overburdened, lack sufficient support and protection and are underpaid? Should they alone bear the burden during this pandemic?

Just like what I posted in my other tweet. Might as well ditch his statement. Is he really 'credible' when he said 'balancing' when all these employers could care about is their businesses? So the balance his talking about is one that tips to their side.

There is no such thing as balancing health and economy in a Pandemic setting, in a perfect World its ok but hey the cases are rising real fast, you have to choose which one is more important..
