MANILA - The Philippines loses a month of productivity yearly due to excessive holidays, a lawmaker said Monday.

House Ways and Means Committee Chair Joey Salceda has filed House Bill 5032 which seeks to cut down the number of non-working holidays to 18 from the current 21 to 25.

Under the measure, a total of 9 regular nonworking holidays will remain, while there will be 2 local nonworking holidays allowed, and 7 special days that would be nonworking to be agreed upon by employees and employers.

But Filipino workers are not given normal paid holidays from work unlike in foreign countries, we only have 8 holidays but we are given 20 days paid holidays from employers....

We can begin with combining Ninoy, Andres and Jose into National Heroes Day. There is benchmark data across neighboring countries supporting the move to reduce. Kapos na nga, dami pang pahinga.

Potacca wag kang magbabakasyon ha.

Eh kau mga tongresman ilan b bajasyon ninyo at waka nng natini n batas naiipasa

Compared to the working days of tong-gressmen and senatongs, who only work half of the year at best, spending most of their time scheming on how to plunder.

Wala na naman silang maisip na matino.

If they will take out Aug 21 and feb 25 yellowholiday

Remove noynoy aquino

Okay. How about no recess for Senate and Congress too. That's the fair thing to do, isn't it?

Remove the useless Ninoy Aquino Day & Edsa Day!

SIRA ULO SOLON YAN...BINUO YAN HOLIDAY PANAHON NI PNOY BAKIT SUMANG AYON AT BUMOTO KA INUTIL AT BOBO SOLON....ANAK KA NG _ _TA INA MO SA KATANGAHAN....

Remove August 21 and February 25 for good.

Remove Ninoy Aquino Day!

Leave the holidays alone. Holidays can also boost the mental health of the workers. It is also used to unwind and reflect.

ugh shut up solon

Yes, Feb 25 and August 21 should be removed.

This government needs to stop prioritizing and patronizing private companies who only feeds into these government official’s wealth 🙄

Please focus nmn kayo sa mas importanteng issues 🙄

Work life balance kasi 😡

As usual pabor nanamn sa mga businessman.. no work no pay applicable sa LAHAT even public officials.. G

Bawal na ding magboxing with pay. Ayos lang yan.

we may not have savings or too many surplus in our life, but were happy even in the toughest moment in our life. In other country they only look like they're plenty and happy but the truth is they're more stress and haggard because of less holidays. Money can't buy happiness.

Taasan nyo sahod wag puro Kung Anu Anu nakikita nyo 😒

Epal hahaha

True. Phil is in the top 5 with the most holidays. And it's all paid under the law.

Can't you think anything better and with sense?

Too many holidays doesn’t mean less for all the industries. Holidays bring opportunities to locals due to tourism, etc. More time with families and loved ones is also encouraged coz of holidays. You know what lessens productivity? Traffic, street crimes, inefficient transportatn.

No work, no pay for all politicians!

Eh sila ba, unli holiday. Wala ngang complete attendance

arent our travel & hospitality businesses also benefitting from the number of holidays we have? how about these lawmakers walk the talk and also require themselves to be at work more often too? 🤨

Sounds unreasonable to connect holidays to the low output. Workers are given the option to go on overtime anyway.. It is the man-hr production output that makes the difference.. See where you can increase production without touching on the holidays..Say by increasing the OT pay..

We demand 365 with pay...

Galing talaga sa kanya ha.

?

Congressmen who barely go to work and has almost half a year in session breaks thinks workers, who suffer through traffic, have too much holidays. Walanghiya talaga mga congressmen nato! Pakasasa kayo sa pondo ng bayan!

ever heard of holiday economics? Albay2D
