THE management of the Toledo City General Hospital has launched an investigation on the death of a mother and her baby following allegations of medical negligence.

The incident happened on May 18, 2022, according to Azenith Villarino, sister of Immaline who was interviewed on radio dyLA on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.The personnel attending to Immaline had failed to refer her immediately to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center , according to the patient’s husband, Joevinel Magno.

Doctors at the VSMMC tried to perform a caesarean delivery on Immaline but the child was already dead.Magno, in a Facebook post on May 18, also called on Toledo City Mayor Marjorie Perales to act on the incident.In a statement posted on its Facebook page Tuesday, May 24, the Toledo City General Hospital said it “sympathizes deeply with the Caba and Villarino families on the death of Immaline and her baby.
