The Green Report: San Enrique, ang komunidad na nangangalaga sa bakawan

MANILA, Philippines – Sa mga susunod na taon, inaasahang mas lalakas pa ang mga bagyong tatama sa Pilipinas.

Isa sa mga nature-based solutions na nakikitang panlaban sa paglakas ng mga darating na bagyo ay ang pagtatanim at pangangalaga ng mangroves o bakawan. Bilang buffer zone, binabawasan ng bakawan ang posibilidad ng pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa., nagpunta ang Rappler sa San Enrique, isang bayan sa Negros Occidental na aktibong nagpapatupad ng mangrove rehabilitation program.

Ang San Enrique ay isang 4th class municipality na may higit-kumulang 24,000 na residente. Parte ito ng Negros Occidental Coastal Wetlands Conservation Area.
