SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin Romualdez turned over a request by embattled Negros Oriental Rep.

Arnolfo Teves Jr. for a leave of absence at the House of Representatives to a committee that will be investigating his case.Teves, who was reported to have left for the United States where he sought medical treatment, filed a two-month LOA due to 'very significant threats' to his life and that of his family after he was linked to the killing of political rival and governor Roel Degamo.

Topacio the decision of the House Committee on Ethics to investigate Cong[ressman] Arnie's refusal to heed a direct order from the Speaker for him to come back home after the expiration of his travel authority last March 9,' Romualdez said.'The Committee on Ethics has already acquired jurisdiction over Cong. Arnie's case. I will act accordingly after the Committee wraps up its investigation and submits its recommendation to the House leadership,' he added.
