The National Task Force Against COVID-19 said Typhoon Odette, which struck in December, and the election season affected “the efficient implementation" of their vaccination drive.

NTF chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. said about six regions in the country that had been struck by the typhoon were forced to suspend their vaccination rollout to respond to the needs of their constituents, noting how these regions have been all set to ramp up the rollout of jabs until the calamity hit.

He cited different circumstances per area of the country, especially far-flung communities in which logistical issues have been hounding vaccine deliveries. Galvez said the government remains committed to vaccinate more Filipinos, adding that more collaborations with the private sector had been sought to ramp up vaccination – including the recently launched “Resbakuna sa Botika,” which tapped pharmacy chains to offer vaccination services in select branches.

As of Saturday, over 57 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated while over six million have received booster doses. The country has administered a total of more than 123 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine since February 2020.Meanwhile, the Department of Health reported that the daily COVID cases nationwide dropped to 29,828 on Sunday. The figure, though, does not include those coming from two laboratories that were unable to submit their data.
